Decabromodiphenyl Oxide (DBDPO) belongs to group of polybrominated diphenyl ethers and is most commonly used as fire retardant in production of various thermoplastic polymers. In polymers, it is always used in conjunction with antimony trioxide and is known to have chemical formula C12Br10O with molar mass of 959.17 g/mol. This compound has density of 3.364 g/cm3 with melting point range of 294 to 296 degrees Celsius. It appears as white to pale yellow solid with very low water solubility. Decabromodiphenyl Oxide (DBDPO) decomposes at 425 degrees Celsius and is also used in some carpets and upholstery fabric.
